Alinta Energy is proposing the Cataby Power Station, a fast-start gas-fired power station to be located near Cataby in the Shire of Dandaragan, about 150km drive north of Perth. The project will deliver up to 500MW of power, equivalent to approximately 10 per cent of peak demand in the main WA electricity grid.

The project will be located within an established industrialised area adjacent to the Cataby Mine, with access to existing gas and transmission infrastructure. The development will include generation infrastructure, gas supply connections, electrical switchyard facilities, administration buildings, access roads and associated site infrastructure.

The proposed Cataby Power Station is expected to create opportunities for regional contractors, suppliers and service providers across a range of disciplines, including civil works, electrical, transport and logistics, engineering, environmental services, site administration and workforce support. Alinta Energy encourages local and regional businesses to register their interest through ICN.

The project represents a significant investment in Western Australia's energy future, supporting energy reliability, local employment and regional economic development while helping enable the continued integration of renewable energy into the SWIS.
